Distant users say my video looks good, but video of other particiapants on my screen freezes most of the time. Audio is good. Sometimes I get a message the “Internet is unstable”. I have connected ethernet cable to router port and turned off my WiFi, but same results. I’m not super-proficient on router setup, so wondering if there are some basic settings that I could change. I use Spectrum cable in the Austin, TX area.

Go to Solution. To see packet loss in Zoom, go to Zoom settings, Statistics, and then Audio tab while you are in a Zoom meeting. View solution in original post. Are you able to log into the Spectrum modem and check the cable logs to see if you are having any T3 or T4 timeouts in those logs? If you are then you may be having internet connection issues with Spectrum.

I appreciate the follow up! I do not have QoS turned on and have gigabit fiber internet. Tried being right next to the router when on a call, tried both wifi bands, nothing stops the “your internet connection is unstable” error in Zoom for me which causes audio to cut out for seconds at a time. Other video call services haven’t had this issue. It sounds like you are doing all of the “reasonable” trial and error steps.

And trying Wired versus Wi-Fi is another perspective. I too run Skype and Microsoft Teams and for both of those apps, the sending audio worked fine. So I was dubious that I truly had an “unstable internet” issue. It was only my Zoom app that was cutting off my sending audio.

This is my simple perspective. I ruled out firewall first If the same behaviour occured with or without using VPN, then it was not my firewall. These are some of the things that I did to “isolate” the issue and figure out that I had a conflict between Zoom and my Router.

You might have a different conflict. For me, my sending audio worked just fine in Zoom via the web. And I stopped seeing the “internet unable” message. Of course, using the web version of Zoom limits your functionality so this is NOT a fix just a test to help isolate the problem. Thus, Zoom web version works just fine and I did not have “unstable internet” issue.

If my internet is good enough for Zoom web version than it is likely that my internet is just fine for my Zoom client. So I stopped focusing on having a bandwidth issue and worrying about using wired versus wi-fi. Next, I reinstalled Zoom on my Windows machine. My sending audio immediately stopped working. Whether I used my VPN or not, my sending audio would not work. Whether I used my VPN or not, my sending audio always worked.

This is when I started checking for all of the “audio voice optimization” options that my Router supported and started turning them off one by one. Your Router may have other options than what mine had. Thanks for your detailed thoughts on this and the many solutions you tried. I am also interested in what we can do with a Mac. I use zoom on ubuntu Audio and video freezes every 35 seconds for app 5 seconds, then it recovers to freeze again after 35 sec.

You can see it in system monitoring. Downloads go down to almost zero for a couple of seconds, then jump back. I have no problems with video streaming. Any Ideas? Time to try a different videoconferencing client. We all have gigabit hard-wired connections, not wifi. We all work out of home offices with no other internet demands streaming… going on. We all have excellent connectivity at all other times. The problem has been ongoing for years and, of course, has gotten much worse since the pandemic.

Agree with you as I am in the same boat. Everything is fine with the network, but this app keeps giving the same message. Fix it already or offer a real fix. All other programs work fine, videos work fine, router checks out, Mbps speed is steady, but still unstable issue with ZOOM. I have begun to experience this Internet is Unstable problem as a regular matter on Zoom only recently maybe the last 3 weeks. Everything else works fine. I have had to leave any number of meetings because of this problem.

Is Zoom doing anything to fix this or not? I agree that this is a zoom app problem. We are getting Mbps running speedtests up and down and I still get the error. Definitely an app issue. I have no problems running Zoom from my iPad and old laptop. This is only happening on my new laptop, which has had all the BIOS, drivers, etc.

We stream movies and Teams run fine on my new laptop. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Home Fix Learn About. Dear Bobbie, We also experiencing same issue on zoom. Me too.
